From humble beginnings , Jose Ma. Mellado Rueda, established Rulo Tools Engineering in 1975. We have grown on a strong foundation of tradition, expertise, experience and competition cemented by the unity and trust of family values.
From our first one room engineering shop in Denver, Johannesburg , Rulo Tools established itself as a small, yet reliable presence and partner to the General Toolmaking and Plastic Industry with longstanding relations spanning over 4 decades. A trust and longevity forged based on our abilities, our experience, discretion, quality workmanship and our direct interaction with our customer.
The foundation of Rulo Tools focussed on the Toolmaking and general engineering industry, however, 1987 brought about a successful transition into the Plastic Injection Moulding field as well. This resulted in the creation of our own brand of Plastige Interlocking Tiles. This expansion brought us to our current and existing plant in Meadowdale, Edenvale.
At the beginning of 2012, we launched our new division specializing in rigid media branding and printing . An investment in a HP SCITEX FB500 was the birth of a new and exciting venture, which has complimented our own product range, namely our Plastige PVC interlocking tiles. We now have the capability to print using UV digital technology with incredible image quality.
A name change was brought about with the idea of aligning our company name with our registered trading Brand : Plastige Africa ( Pty) Ltd.
We constantly strive to improve our existing products and services, which has led to the creation of our third tier of our business namely the distribution rights for the FORBO Coral ranges , in particular commercial walk-off matting systems. This was indeed a valuable and complimentary addition to our locally manufactured entrance matting solutions. We can now offer our clients a comprehensive range of flooring solutions be it commercial, residential, retail or export.
In 2025 we proudly announced the creation of Plastige Africa Enterprises (Pty) Ltd – our proud and newly evolved Level 2 B-BBEE company with 51% Black female ownership.
